Financial Centre

I spent the whole day in Financial Centre where I was photographing iconic Emirates Towers. I ordered decaf coffee in Nero but judging from the heartbeat shown by my wristband and shaking of my hands I got regular one, so I had enough energy to walk through entire district and I ended up in Dubai Mall.

Deira district, where was my hotel, didn’t induce photographic frenzy in me. I took only few pictures of Union metro station area.

First glimpse of Burj Khalifa in the distance

I took the metro red line and got out at Emirates Towers station. First thing that caught my attention was this huge ring with (I guess) surahs of Quran written o n it.

The other side of the railway looked less original but still impressive.

The ring was super photogenic but too big to fit into the frame of my cellphone camera. I didn’t use the superwide angle lens cause distortion was unbearable.

Once I got to Emirates Towers and took out the camera from my backpack I was immediately informed by the security that taking pictures with anything bigger than cellphone is not allowed.

I managed to take only this one shot inside
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if they would resurrect space shuttles for that? 🙂

No matter how impressive structures and buildings one can see in Dubai, Burj Khalifa will dwarf them all… with one exception about which will be a separate post. This exception though is only possible thanks to its remoteness.

It is one of the few places on Earth where such cars can be seen in abundance.
